Goal! Score
one for the Lord! Just like in soccer or football—the goal is made by a team.
In this case the team is the Christian and Jesus. Paul said that he presses on
to the goal. The prize of that goal is heaven. Is that like a trophy prize from
a football or soccer tournament? Heaven is better than any prize that we can
imagine from any sporting event—and it will last forever. Set that as your
goal. Have some initiative—go for the goal.
Training Tip – During a quiet moment, share the Philippians 3:14
verse with them. Talk about how we have goals in life—sports goals and
spiritual goals. Then take your children to play soccer or flag football
at a sport field where goals are set up, or set up a goal line in your
backyard. Call the goal line “Heaven” and have a scrimmage with your kids. It
should be fun for them to play some soccer or football. Cheer on your family’s
team.
Lord God, give us wisdom to know You better, to
clearly see the goal and to press on to that goal.
