Don’t Be Fooled

Prayer – Lord, open my eyes, my mind, and my heart to understanding Your word and please give me discernment that I would not only understand, but be able to help others understand about Your return. I’ve always thought it would be in my lifetime…but Your time is beyond my comprehension, so I wait patiently for You.

Now, dear brothers and sisters, let us clarify some things about the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ and how we will be gathered to meet him. Don't be so easily shaken or alarmed by those who say that the day of the Lord has already begun. Don't believe them, even if they claim to have had a spiritual vision, a revelation, or a letter supposedly from us. Don't be fooled by what they say. For that day will not come until there is a great rebellion against God and the man of lawlessness is revealed—the one who brings destruction. He will exalt himself and defy everything that people call god and every object of worship. He will even sit in the temple of God, claiming that he himself is God. ... And you know what is holding him back, for he can be revealed only when his time comes. For this lawlessness is already at work secretly, and it will remain secret until the one who is holding it back steps out of the way. Then the man of lawlessness will be revealed, but the Lord Jesus will kill him with the breath of his mouth and destroy him by the splendor of his coming. This man will come to do the work of Satan with counterfeit power and signs and miracles. He will use every kind of evil deception to fool those on their way to destruction, because they refuse to love and accept the truth that would save them. So God will cause them to be greatly deceived, and they will believe these lies. Then they will be condemned for enjoying evil rather than believing the truth. 2 Thessalonians 2:1-4, 6-12 NLT (Underlined for emphasis.)

Meditate. Consider God’s guidance in scripture. Read God’s word and listen to what He is saying.

April Fools is past—so don’t be the biggest fool at last!

Don't be fooled by what they say, as Paul wrote in his second letter to the church at Thessalonica! The same message is good for us today. Don’t be fooled by the YouTube teachers and preachers who are touting that Jesus has returned or will be here today…or tomorrow. Events happening in the Middle East that indicate that world leaders are plotting or lining up in opposition to Israel. The Israelites have returned to their nation—and it has been a sovereign country for more than seventy years. In Ezekiel, the Lord spoke to the nation of Gog and prophesied about the future of Israel.

Get ready; be prepared! Keep all the armies around you mobilized, and take command of them. A long time from now you will be called into action. In the distant future you will swoop down on the land of Israel, which will be enjoying peace after recovering from war and after its people have returned from many lands to the mountains of Israel. You and all your allies—a vast and awesome army—will roll down on them like a storm and cover the land like a cloud. This is what the Sovereign LORD says: At that time evil thoughts will come to your mind, and you will devise a wicked scheme. You will say, 'Israel is an unprotected land filled with unwalled villages! I will march against her and destroy these people who live in such confidence! I will go to those formerly desolate cities that are now filled with people who have returned from exile in many nations. I will capture vast amounts of plunder, for the people are rich with livestock and other possessions now. They think the whole world revolves around them!' Ezekiel 38:7-12 NLT

Ezekiel wrote about a long time from now. Will this happen in our lifetime? Only God knows for sure. He is beyond time.

All glory to him who alone is God, our Savior through Jesus Christ our Lord. All glory, majesty, power, and authority are his before all time, and in the present, and beyond all time! Amen. Jude 1:25 NLT

Are you reading God's word for yourself?
Don't be fooled by others' views.
Don’t be fooled by anyone. Get into God’s word and study it for yourself. Find His truth.

Verse of Salvation ~ As for us, we can't help but thank God for you, dear brothers and sisters loved by the Lord. We are always thankful that God chose you to be among the first to experience salvation—a salvation that came through the Spirit who makes you holy and through your belief in the truth. 2 Thessalonians 2:13 NLT
