Who is a Fool?

Is the fool blinded to his own actions?
Prayer – Lord, I am overwhelmed by the number of times the Bible talks about the “foolish”—those fools! Open my eyes and help me not only to see any foolish words or actions I might be tempted to say or do, but also give me wisdom to control my actions and keep me from speaking foolish words.

When you make a promise to God, don't delay in following through, for God takes no pleasure in fools. Keep all the promises you make to him. Ecclesiastes 5:4 NLT

Meditate. Consider foolish actions—and your own actions and attitudes.

The Bible is full of advice about fools.

·        Wise people treasure knowledge, but the babbling of a fool invites disaster. Proverbs 10:14 NLT

·        A fool is quick-tempered, but a wise person stays calm when insulted. Proverbs 12:16 NLT

·        It is painful to be the parent of a fool; there is no joy for the father of a rebel. Proverbs 17:21 NLT

·        Better to be poor and honest than to be dishonest and a fool. Proverbs 19:1 NLT

·        Control your temper, for anger labels you a fool. Ecclesiastes 7:9 NLT

·        A wise person chooses the right road; a fool takes the wrong one. Ecclesiastes 10:2 NLT

·        "Yes, a person is a fool to store up earthly wealth but not have a rich relationship with God." Luke 12:21 NLT

·        Only fools say in their hearts, "There is no God." They are corrupt, and their actions are evil; not one of them does good! Psalm 14:1 NLT

·        Fear of the LORD is the foundation of true knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline. Proverbs 1:7 NLT

·        The words of the godly encourage many, but fools are destroyed by their lack of common sense. Proverbs 10:21 NLT

·        Fools think their own way is right, but the wise listen to others. Proverbs 12:15 NLT

·        Wise people think before they act; fools don't--and even brag about their foolishness. Proverbs 13:16 NLT

·        Walk with the wise and become wise; associate with fools and get in trouble. Proverbs 13:20 NLT

·        Fools make fun of guilt, but the godly acknowledge it and seek reconciliation. Proverbs 14:9 NLT

·        The mouths of fools are their ruin; they trap themselves with their lips. Proverbs 18:7 NLT

·        So be careful how you live. Don't live like fools, but like those who are wise. Ephesians 5:15 NLT

On this day known as April Fool’s day, who is a fool? Choose for yourself.

Verse of Salvation ~ The message of the cross is foolish to those who are headed for destruction! But we who are being saved know it is the very power of God. ... So where does this leave the philosophers, the scholars, and the world's brilliant debaters? God has made the wisdom of this world look foolish. 1 Corinthians 1:18, 20 NLT
