Prayer – Lord Jesus, You are worthy to open the scroll.
What will happen? We can trust You that it will be just as it was in John’s
vision. Please give me insight into Your word and give me wisdom—You are worthy
to give wisdom and to be worshipped and adored. I praise You and thank you for
the great plan that lies ahead of us all.
Then I saw a Lamb that looked as if it had been
slaughtered, but it was now standing between the throne and the four living
beings and among the twenty-four elders. He had seven horns and seven eyes,
which represent the sevenfold Spirit of God that is sent out into every part of
the earth. He stepped forward and took the scroll from the right hand of the one
sitting on the throne. And when he took the scroll, the four living beings and
the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb. Each one had a harp, and they
held gold bowls filled with incense, which are the prayers of God's people. And
they sang a new song with these words: "You are worthy to take the scroll
and break its seals and open it. For you were slaughtered, and your blood has
ransomed people for God from every tribe and language and people and nation.
And you have caused them to become a Kingdom of priests for our God. And they
will reign on the earth." Revelation 5:6-10
Meditate. Consider that scroll and the consequences of it
being opened.
No one was worthy of opening the scroll, but Jesus Himself
takes the scroll from the right hand of God, who is seated on His throne. The
right hand—the one of power and might—with authority and honor. Jesus takes the
scroll from God’s hand—it is not passed to an angel first, but God gives it
directly to Jesus so that Jesus is the one responsible for implementing the
actions that will commence. He is worthy because of His sacrifice. His blood
has purified people from around the world and they have become faithful
followers which allows them—or caused them—to become a Kingdom of priests to
serve God.
What will be released when the seals on the scroll are opened? Stay tuned. Soon we’ll read about Jesus opening the first seal.
Angels won't control the world.
Verse of Salvation ~ And furthermore, it is not angels
who will control the future world we are talking about. For in one place the
Scriptures say, "What are mere mortals that you should think about them,
or a son of man that you should care for him? Yet you made them only a little
lower than the angels and crowned them with glory and honor. You gave them
authority over all things.” Now when it says "all things," it means
nothing is left out. But we have not yet seen all things put under their
authority. What we do see is Jesus, who was given a position "a little
lower than the angels"; and because he suffered death for us, he is now
"crowned with glory and honor." Yes, by God's grace, Jesus tasted
death for everyone. God, for whom and through whom everything was made, chose
to bring many children into glory. And it was only right that he should make
Jesus, through his suffering, a perfect leader, fit to bring them into their
salvation. Hebrews 2:5-10
