Prayer – Lord, You are like Mother and Father to us all. Someone just assigned this day—that You created—to be “Mother’s Day” but I think that we should honor You—as well as our parents everyday…for this is the day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it! (Psalm 119:24.)
Didn't the LORD make you one with your wife? In body and spirit you are his. And what does he want? Godly children from your union. So guard your heart; remain loyal to the wife of your youth. Malachi 2:15
Meditate. Consider what God wants for your family.
Had you read previously such wisdom from Malachi? I’ve read
through the Bible—so of course I’d read this passage, but in searching for
evidence of the Holy Spirit in the Old Testament I came across this passage.
Amazing. I love how God’s word is alive and active. Fresh words…although written
a couple of thousand years ago. Savor this message today. God loves you and
your family. You belong to Him and He has a plan for your life.
In body and spirit
you are his. And what does he want? Godly children from your union. So guard
your heart; remain loyal to the wife of your youth.
What does Malachi tell us? God wants Godly children. You are
just raising them for Him. Paul also gives us guidance from God on lovingly disciplining and teaching our kids.
Children, obey your
parents because you belong to the Lord, for this is the right thing to do.
"Honor your father and mother." This is the first commandment with a
promise: If you honor your father and mother, "things will go well for
you, and you will have a long life on the earth." Fathers (and
Mothers) do not provoke your children to anger by the way you treat
them. Rather, bring them up with the discipline and instruction that comes from
the Lord. Ephesians 6:1-4 (Underlined additional text for emphasis.)

Malachi uses a lot of questions and answers to communicate God’s message to His people. Basically, they were neglecting true worship of the Lord and God was calling them to repent. Sound familiar? God wants us to be repentant even today. In body and spirit you are His. Obeying Him…and treating others with respect, honor, and love…should be our main purpose in life. Is that your goal today? How are you doing with that? Are you living a life that is worthy of honor by your children, grandchildren, or others who see you as an influence in their lives? Celebrate Mother’s Day with joy and happiness.
Verse of Salvation ~ As God's partners, we beg you not
to accept this marvelous gift of God's kindness and then ignore it. For God
says, "At just the right time, I heard you. On the day of salvation, I
helped you." Indeed, the "right time" is now. Today is the day
of salvation. 2 Corinthians 6:1-2
