Prayer – Lord, on this special day—celebrating 80 years—bless
my husband, Jerry, with continued health, peace, strength, joy, and love
overflowing. He is so dedicated to our family…and friends…and a faithful
follower of You. Thank you for 80 wonderful years that You have bestowed on him
Happy 80th Birthday Jerry!
This is the day the LORD has made. We will rejoice
and be glad in it. Psalm 118:24
Meditate. Rejoice.
What is your favorite verse? After 80 years, Jerry is still
rejoicing…and is glad for his life, graced by God. This verse today from Psalm
118 is his favorite and he recites it often. It actually became his life verse
after hearing an extended family member, John Franklin, recite it years ago. They
both have that joy of the Lord in them, although John left this earth for his
heavenly home with Jesus several years ago. Jesus continues to fill us all with
an outpouring of His love, grace, mercy, peace, patience, joy, kindness,
goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. What would our lives be
like without Jesus…without the Holy Spirit? Painstakingly miserable. I often
hear Christians ask, “How do others live without the Lord?” Their lives are
either miserable or they are so self-reliant that they feel they don’t need
God. Most Christians have not only an attitude of repentance, but one of gratefulness
for all that the Lord does for them on a daily basis. This is the day the
Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it! Thank Him and praise Him
for each day—and for His love, grace and mercy in your life. I do.
Verse of Salvation ~ In that day the people will
proclaim, "This is our God! We trusted in him, and he saved us! This is
the LORD, in whom we trusted. Let us rejoice in the salvation he brings!" Isaiah
25:9
