Can You Give God Advice?

Prayer – Lord, I need Your guidance, day by day. Show me—give me Your advice that I would choose wisely what path to take…what to do and say to others. May I bring glory to You—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

The grass withers and the flowers fade, but the word of our God stands forever. O Zion, messenger of good news, shout from the mountaintops! Shout it louder, O Jerusalem. Shout, and do not be afraid. Tell the towns of Judah, "Your God is coming!" Yes, the Sovereign LORD is coming in power. He will rule with a powerful arm. See, he brings his reward with him as he comes. He will feed his flock like a shepherd. He will carry the lambs in his arms, holding them close to his heart. He will gently lead the mother sheep with their young. Who else has held the oceans in his hand? Who has measured off the heavens with his fingers? Who else knows the weight of the earth or has weighed the mountains and hills on a scale? Who is able to advise the Spirit of the LORD? Who knows enough to give him advice or teach him? Has the LORD ever needed anyone's advice? Does he need instruction about what is good? Did someone teach him what is right or show him the path of justice? Isaiah 40:8-14

Meditate. Consider God’s knowledge in scripture. Read God’s word and listen to what He is saying.

Spring is here! The lilacs and tulips are blooming—it is warm and then cool. It is springtime! The trees have bloomed and now those flowers have faded—still part of the season of spring. God created the seasons from the beginning and although not everyone is happy about the weather all the time, it is of no avail to ask God to change it.

Just as Isaiah wrote… Who is able to advise the Spirit of the LORD? Who could be so bold as to tell God how to do something? Maybe some thirteen-year-old rebellious child who thinks he knows it all would be so obnoxious as to tell God how things should be? But he’ll learn—and hopefully soon that everyone needs to love God with all their heart, soul, mind, and strength…and to love their neighbor as themselves. That to me is the central point of life—that is what is important. Kids have to learn to respect God…and others. If there is no respect for themselves or others, it is a display of no respect for God. Life depends on love—that is what everyone is seeking deep within their souls. God is love.

I treasure the image of the Lord as our shepherd. As Isaiah reflects on this… He will feed his flock like a shepherd. He will carry the lambs in his arms, holding them close to his heart…He will gently lead the mother sheep with their young, we can contemplate what we’ve read time and again in Psalm 23. Then we can consider how Jesus will be our shepherd and more when He returns. He will be shepherding His chosen people, the Israelites, leading them to safety as they go to the wilderness to a place prepared for them, presumably Petra, for forty-two months as described in Revelation 12:6. There they will discover that He is their long-awaited Messiah. There is so much to learn and discover about Bible prophecy. Are you challenged to dig into God’s word and discover the mystery that is unfolding before our eyes?

Verse of Salvation ~ Show me the right path, O LORD; point out the road for me to follow. Lead me by your truth and teach me, for you are the God who saves me. All day long I put my hope in you. Psalm 25:4-5
