Meditate. How well do you know Jesus…how well do you want to know Jesus?
May God give you more and more grace and peace as you grow in your knowledge of God and Jesus our Lord. By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence. And because of his glory and excellence, he has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share his divine nature and escape the world's corruption caused by human desires. In view of all this, make every effort to respond to God's promises. Supplement your faith with a generous provision of moral excellence, and moral excellence with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with patient endurance, and patient endurance with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love for everyone. The more you grow like this, the more productive and useful you will be in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Peter 1:2-8 (Underlined for emphasis.)
The knowledge
of God and of Jesus our Lord includes knowledge and understanding of the
Kingdom of God or the Kingdom of Heaven. Isn’t that the thing for which we’re
all searching? True knowledge. Peter was
telling the young Christians to whom he was writing that he wanted God to give
them more grace and peace as they grow in their knowledge of God.
Similarly, Paul wrote to the church at Ephesus—hoping for spiritual wisdom for
them.
Ever since I first heard of your strong faith
in the Lord Jesus and your love for God's people everywhere, I have not stopped
thanking God for you. I pray for you constantly, asking God, the glorious
Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, to give you spiritual wisdom and insight so
that you might grow in your knowledge of God. I pray that your hearts will be
flooded with light so that you can understand the confident hope he has given
to those he called—his holy people who are his rich and glorious inheritance. Ephesians
1:15-18
God has
promised…as David told his son Solomon…if you seek God you will find Him.Open the gate of your heart,
as you seek God and His Kingdom.
Gate to the Garden at Gethsemane.
Jerusalem, Israel.
And Solomon, my son, learn to know the God of
your ancestors intimately. Worship and serve him with your whole heart and a
willing mind. For the LORD sees every heart and knows every plan and thought.
If you seek him, you will find him. But if you forsake him, he will reject you
forever. 1 Chronicles 28:9
That is
what we are called to do…seek God and grow in the knowledge of Him. As you seek
God, will you build your relationship with the Lord within His
Prayer ~ Lord—I seek You first…and love You with all of my heart, soul, mind and strength. I want to know more and more of You…to have knowledge and understanding of God and His Kingdom. To know You is to love You. As I find more of You…and understand You more deeply, help me share You with others.
Verse of Salvation ~ But--"When God our Savior revealed his kindness and love, he saved us, not because of the righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He washed away our sins, giving us a new birth and new life through the Holy Spirit. He generously poured out the Spirit upon us through Jesus Christ our Savior. Because of his grace he declared us righteous and gave us confidence that we will inherit eternal life." Titus 3:4-7
