Meditate.
Well then, should we
conclude that we Jews are better than others? No, not at all, for we have
already shown that all people, whether Jews or Gentiles, are under the power of
sin. As the Scriptures say, "No one is righteous—not even one. No one is
truly wise; no one is seeking God. All have turned away; all have become
useless. No one does good, not a single one." Romans 3:9-12
Consider the scripture that tells us that God doesn’t have favorites. We are certainly all given the opportunity to “believe” in Jesus…for God so loved the world…not just the United States or just those in my church…but the world, all through time…not just since Jesus spoke those words to Nicodemus a couple of thousand years ago as recorded in John 3:16.
For the LORD your God is the God of gods and Lord of
lords. He is the great God, the mighty and awesome God, who shows no partiality
and cannot be bribed. Deuteronomy 10:17 (Moses speaking to the Israelites
before they crossed the Jordan River into the Promised Land.)
And remember that the heavenly Father to whom you pray has
no favorites. He will judge or reward you according to what you do. So you must
live in reverent fear of him during your time as "foreigners in the
land." 1 Peter 1:17
No one is righteous—only God is
perfect and pure. So pure that He cannot have anyone stand in His presence who
has not been made holy by the washing away of their sin by the blood of Jesus.
God has united you with Christ Jesus. For our benefit God
made him to be wisdom itself. Christ made us right with God; he made us pure
and holy, and he freed us from sin. Therefore, as the Scriptures say, "If
you want to boast, boast only about the LORD." 1 Corinthians 1:30-31
So…that’s the way it is. God has no favorites because until we are washed by Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross, He sees us all as we are…sinful and unwise. Wise up and choose Jesus as your Savior. Time may be short before life as we know it may end abruptly—choose today whom you will serve and honor for eternity. Will it be God—or will you choose an eternal life without God?
Prayer ~ Lord God…So I will be strong and courageous! I will not be afraid or panic before them (my enemies or perilous times). For You, the LORD my God, will personally go ahead of me. You will neither fail me nor abandon me. From Deuteronomy 31:6. I praise You, Lord, that You do not have favorites—not the Jews or the Gentiles. Thank You for being my God, my Lord, and my Savior. I praise You.
Verse of Salvation ~ This is all the more urgent, for you know how late it is; time is running out. Wake up, for our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed. The night is almost gone; the day of salvation will soon be here. So remove your dark deeds like dirty clothes, and put on the shining armor of right living. Romans 13:11-12
Friday’s Feasting at the King’s Table
We can’t live on bread alone. August 8th is National Zucchini Day! It is traditionally the day when people sneak some zucchini onto their neighbor’s porch! Personally, my zucchini hasn’t started producing yet…yet. But it will eventually—hopefully before the first freeze in October! My dear neighbor with a prolific garden has already gifted me with some wonderful yellow crooked neck squash—very similar to zucchini! We have enjoyed those in a tasty and healthy stir-fry.
So, what will you do with your zucchini this year? One of our favorites is zucchini relish—but we’ve also enjoy zucchini cookies and zucchini carrot bread! Yum. It isn’t likely that we will be eating much of any of those sugary high carb concoctions this year with weight loss efforts, but my mouth is watering just thinking about some zucchini bread with whole grain flours, nuts and other veggies added. Yum!
Let me know if you have a favorite zucchini recipe
that you want to share with other readers of “Banquet With The King.” A PRIZE of an e-book of "Parenting Day by Day" to anyone who emails me a zucchini recipe. Send your recipe to: banquetblog@gmail.com It has a Zuccchini Relish recipe. Let's celebrate National Zucchini Day wholeheartedly in anticipation of
what will be on the King’s Table one day in Heaven when we will all rejoice
together at the Marriage Feast. But as I have realized from studying the
scriptures…
Do you find joy in the Holy Spirit? |
For the Kingdom of God is not a matter of what we eat or drink, but of living a life of goodness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. Romans 14:17
Have joy in the Lord…for His righteousness alone will feed our
souls—even when the zucchini is providing enough food for the neighborhood.
