Be Happy. That is Why We Are Here!

Meditate.
I also noticed that under the sun there is evil in the courtroom. Yes, even the courts of law are corrupt! I said to myself, "In due season God will judge everyone, both good and bad, for all their deeds." I also thought about the human condition--how God proves to people that they are like animals. For people and animals share the same fate--both breathe and both must die. So people have no real advantage over the animals. How meaningless! Both go to the same place--they came from dust and they return to dust. For who can prove that the human spirit goes up and the spirit of animals goes down into the earth? So I saw that there is nothing better for people than to be happy in their work. That is why we are here! No one will bring us back from death to enjoy life after we die. Ecclesiastes 3:16-22 (Underlined for emphasis.)

Evil actions and corruption are out there. God will judge those involved. We just need to avoid being associated with corruption…stay out of harm’s way. Who really wants to be part of a riot…or even a demonstration? I guess lots of people do since they are turning out in the thousands…and certainly not maintaining the six feet apart social distancing.  Is that giving meaning to their lives…or the lives of others? Destruction of public property does not add value to life.

Solomon advised people in his time to be happy in their work—that is why we are here. Enjoy your life while you are living. What are you doing to “enjoy life” today? Are you staying cool in this overwhelming HOT weather? Are you sharing your time and talents with others? Or are you just sitting around watching YouTube and Netflix? On these hot days, there may not be any better activity unless you have a pool nearby! Are you happy in your work? A lot of people are out of work…or had their hours reduced during this COVID pandemic. The really blessed ones are those who can work from home and have a strong internet connection to enable them to continue the responsibilities of their job.

Dust to dust. Adam was cursed after he and Eve ate of the forbidden fruit.

By the sweat of your brow will you have food to eat until you return to the ground from which you were made. For you were made from dust, and to dust you will return. Genesis 3:19

Adam couldn’t have been happy about his punishment…life was pretty good until the fall. He had meaningful work to do in the Garden of Eden since creation, but now his work included dealing with thorns and sweating…and he could only look forward to becoming dust. Life became hard. Do you think he was happy? Are you happy in the work you do…in a business or in your home? Are you working for the Lord in some way…serving Him by serving others?

Dust to dust.
Is that lizard coming or going?
Prayer ~ Lord Jesus, You gave Your life in service. I am willing to serve others for You. Show me what You want me to do.
It was written...“For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many." Matthew 20:28

Verses of Salvation ~ Jesus answered them, "Healthy people don't need a doctor--sick people do. I have come to call not those who think they are righteous, but those who know they are sinners and need to repent." Luke 5:31-32

Repent and be saved while there is still time.
