But Watch Out. Be Careful Never to Forget….

These were the words of Moses to the children of Israel, before they went into the Promised Land. They had been given the Ten Commandments and this was Moses warning to them to obey!
Meditate on these words today…and apply them to your life.
Watch Out. Don't take your eyes off Jesus.
Don't forget what you have seen and learned.
And now, Israel, listen carefully to these decrees and regulations that I am about to teach you. Obey them so that you may live, so you may enter and occupy the land that the LORD, the God of your ancestors, is giving you. Do not add to or subtract from these commands I am giving you. Just obey the commands of the LORD your God that I am giving you. ... "Look, I now teach you these decrees and regulations just as the LORD my God commanded me, so that you may obey them in the land you are about to enter and occupy. Obey them completely, and you will display your wisdom and intelligence among the surrounding nations. When they hear all these decrees, they will exclaim, 'How wise and prudent are the people of this great nation!' For what great nation has a god as near to them as the LORD our God is near to us whenever we call on him? And what great nation has decrees and regulations as righteous and fair as this body of instructions that I am giving you today? But watch out! Be careful never to forget what you yourself have seen. Do not let these memories escape from your mind as long as you live! And be sure to pass them on to your children and grandchildren. Deuteronomy 4:1-2, 5-9

Moses gave God’s commandments to the Israelites and when Jesus came to teach them…and to be their sacrifice, they still weren’t following the commandments. There were extremes…those who added to the commands and wouldn’t even walk more steps than were necessary to observe the Sabbath. WAIT! Didn’t Moses say: Do not add to or subtract from these commands I am giving you. Just obey the commands of the LORD your God that I am giving you. YES! What were they doing adding to the commands? While Jesus was here, He taught how to live and why He came.
Don't misunderstand why I have come. I did not come to abolish the law of Moses or the writings of the prophets. No, I came to accomplish their purpose. I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not even the smallest detail of God's law will disappear until its purpose is achieved. So if you ignore the least commandment and teach others to do the same, you will be called the least in the Kingdom of Heaven. But anyone who obeys God's laws and teaches them will be called great in the Kingdom of Heaven. Matthew 5:17-19
So when Jesus was hanging on the cross…in agony carrying our sins on His sinless body…He said, “It is finished.” John 19:30. His work on earth was done. At the end of the Bible…and the beginning of Heaven…Jesus’ words are also recorded:
And the one (Jesus) sitting on the throne said, "Look, I am making everything new!" And then he said to me, "Write this down, for what I tell you is trustworthy and true." And he also said, "It is finished! I am the Alpha and the Omega--the Beginning and the End. To all who are thirsty I will give freely from the springs of the water of life. All who are victorious will inherit all these blessings, and I will be their God, and they will be my children. "But cowards, unbelievers, the corrupt, murderers, the immoral, those who practice witchcraft, idol worshipers, and all liars--their fate is in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death." Revelation 21:5-8
Inspiring words are written in Psalms that encourage us to keep God’s teaching going on from generation to generation.
We will not hide these truths from our children; we will tell the next generation about the glorious deeds of the LORD, about his power and his mighty wonders. For he issued his laws to Jacob; he gave his instructions to Israel. He commanded our ancestors to teach them to their children, so the next generation might know them--even the children not yet born--and they in turn will teach their own children. Psalm 78:4-6
Are you teaching your children and grandchildren about Jesus, about His Commandments, about His sacrifice, and about His return? Give them hope for in this time of fear and unknown certainty Jesus does provide us hope, love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness, and self-control.

We have a great nation whose laws are built on God’s laws. Let us call on the Lord.

Prayer ~ Lord God, Help us to obey Your Commands completely, and display your wisdom and intelligence among the surrounding nations. When they hear all these decrees, they will exclaim, 'How wise and prudent are the people of this great nation!' For what great nation has a god as near to them as the LORD our God is near to us whenever we call on him? And what great nation has decrees and regulations as righteous and fair as this body of instructions that You have given us? Help us to watch out! To be careful never to forget what You have shown us throughout history. Do not let these memories escape from our minds as long as we live! And help us to pass them on to our children and grandchildren.
