The Creator is Still Working

Lenten meditation for today…a new home!
"Look! I am creating new heavens and a new earth, and no one will even think about the old ones anymore. Be glad; rejoice forever in my creation! And look! I will create Jerusalem as a place of happiness. Her people will be a source of joy. I will rejoice over Jerusalem and delight in my people. And the sound of weeping and crying will be heard in it no more. No longer will babies die when only a few days old. No longer will adults die before they have lived a full life. No longer will people be considered old at one hundred! Only the cursed will die that young! In those days people will live in the houses they build and eat the fruit of their own vineyards. Unlike the past, invaders will not take their houses and confiscate their vineyards. For my people will live as long as trees, and my chosen ones will have time to enjoy their hard-won gains. They will not work in vain, and their children will not be doomed to misfortune. For they are people blessed by the LORD, and their children, too, will be blessed. I will answer them before they even call to me. While they are still talking about their needs, I will go ahead and answer their prayers! The wolf and the lamb will feed together. The lion will eat hay like a cow. But the snakes will eat dust. In those days no one will be hurt or destroyed on my holy mountain. I, the LORD, have spoken!" Isaiah 65:17-25

Nautilus Sea Shell
Isaiah gives us such hope. Jesus is creating a new heaven and new earth. He is the original Creator—of this wonderful earth we live on now. The details of creation are just awesome. I am amazed at the intricacy of things like the nautilus seashell. A famous mathematician in Pisa, Italy, Fabonacci developed a formula for understanding things in nature, like the nautilus shell. The proportions of a logarithmic spiral, even as the shell is growing…remember there is a live animal inside…follow a pattern. That pattern follows the squares of the numbers: 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34. That is just one example. All throughout nature we see the same pattern in the stars of the galaxies, sunflowers and even in the human body. Check out more info on this on the web. Just Google it. Praise Jesus for being such an amazing Creator. I am looking forward to seeing—to experiencing—a wonderful new heaven and new earth. For now, we just have to remain calm. Trust God. He has a plan and it includes a heavenly home for everyone in His family. Not everyone will be going there…only those who are called…and respond. Are you listening and seeking God?

There is so much about hope written in the Bible. Check out Romans 8. Here are a few verses of encouragement from that chapter.
Those who are dominated by the sinful nature think about sinful things, but those who are controlled by the Holy Spirit think about things that please the Spirit. So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace. For the sinful nature is always hostile to God. It never did obey God's laws, and it never will. ... Therefore, dear brothers and sisters, you have no obligation to do what your sinful nature urges you to do. ... So you have not received a spirit that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God's Spirit when he adopted you as his own children. Now we call him, "Abba, Father." For his Spirit joins with our spirit to affirm that we are God's children. ... For all creation is waiting eagerly for that future day when God will reveal who his children really are. Against its will, all creation was subjected to God's curse. But with eager hope, the creation looks forward to the day when it will join God's children in glorious freedom from death and decay. For we know that all creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. And we believers also groan, even though we have the Holy Spirit within us as a foretaste of future glory, for we long for our bodies to be released from sin and suffering. We, too, wait with eager hope for the day when God will give us our full rights as his adopted children, including the new bodies he has promised us. We were given this hope when we were saved. (If we already have something, we don't need to hope for it. But if we look forward to something we don't yet have, we must wait patiently and confidently.) Romans 8:5-7, 12, 15-16, 19-25
Hang onto that hope, brothers and sisters in Christ. And for everyone else…consider who Jesus is to you…and if you want to consider Him to be your Savior? Begin by admitting that you—like everyone else—are a sinner. Believe in your heart that Jesus is the Son of God and that Jesus died for you…for your sin. Confess your sin. Call on the name of the Lord—pray. Then begin daily reading the Bible (available on line for free) and get to know God…know Jesus.

Prayer ~ Lord, Thank You for hope. We can go without food and water and social contact…for a while. But we can’t go long without hope. Encourage and strengthen our hearts…and help us to be encouraging to others so that no one is left behind.
