Memory Scripture of the Week –
Genesis 1:20
Then God said, "Let the waters swarm with fish and other life. Let
the skies be filled with birds of every kind."
Genesis 1:21
So God created great sea creatures and every living thing that scurries
and swarms in the water, and every sort of bird--each producing offspring of
the same kind. And God saw that it was good.
Genesis 1:22-23
Then God blessed them, saying, "Be fruitful and multiply. Let the
fish fill the seas, and let the birds multiply on the earth." And evening
passed and morning came, marking the fifth day.
Genesis 1:24 Then
God said, "Let the earth produce every sort of animal, each producing
offspring of the same kind—livestock, small animals that scurry along the
ground, and wild animals." And that is what happened.
Genesis 1:25
God made all sorts of wild animals, livestock, and small animals, each
able to produce offspring of the same kind. And God saw that it was good.
Genesis 1:26
Then God said, "Let us make human beings in our image, to be like
us. They will reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, the
livestock, all the wild animals on the earth, and the small animals that scurry
along the ground."
Genesis 1:27
So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he
created them; male and female he created them.

The sea and
the land…the seasons…the animals. That is what happened. God had a plan…and it
came into being just as He ordered it. That is what happened.
We don’t have
that power to just make things happen. We try to make things happen…to make
things go “our way” but that doesn’t mean that it is good, right, or true. Only
that can come from God. Here are a few verses that remind me of God’s goodness,
grace and power. Which one speaks to you?
Jesus told him, "I am the way, the truth, and
the life. No one can come to the Father except through me." John 14:6
Has the LORD ever needed anyone's advice? Does he
need instruction about what is good? Did someone teach him what is right or show
him the path of justice? Isaiah 40:14
No, O people, the LORD has told you what is good,
and this is what he requires of you: to do what is right, to love mercy, and to
walk humbly with your God. Micah 6:8
For this light within you produces only what is good
and right and true. Ephesians 5:9
For the LORD God is our sun and our shield. He gives
us grace and glory. The LORD will withhold no good thing from those who do what
is right. Psalm 84:11
Let those who are wise understand these things. Let
those with discernment listen carefully. The paths of the LORD are true and
right, and righteous people live by walking in them. But in those paths sinners
stumble and fall. Hosea 14:9
And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing.
Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and
lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of
praise. Philippians
4:8
Keep a close watch on how you live and on your
teaching. Stay true to what is right for the sake of your own salvation and the
salvation of those who hear you. 1 Timothy 4:16
Prayer ~ Lord Jesus, You created the
animals—great and small…wild and tamable—for Your glory. You made it happen
just by speaking it. Speak to me…and to everyone reading this…that we would
know Your presence in our lives, claim the salvation that You offer, and do what is true,
and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. You are the light within each of us that
produces only what is good and right and true.
