Scripture of the Week –
For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God's glorious standard.
Romans 3:23
Do you still
need to be convinced that you are part of the “everyone”…that we all fall short of God’s plan…His standard? What
is sin for you? Is it the same as your brother, sister, spouse or neighbor?
Sin is sin.
Do you know
Jesus? Who is He to you? Is sin the same for a non-Christian…a non-believer…one
who doesn’t believe in Jesus as the Son of God—as God? Sin is sin. God doesn’t
see people differently as far as sin is concerned. Sin is sin.
Remember, it is sin to know what you ought to do and
then not do it. James 4:17
Everyone who sins is breaking God's law, for all sin
is contrary to the law of God. 1 John 3:4
I tell you the truth, all sin and blasphemy can be
forgiven, but anyone who blasphemes the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven.
This is a sin with eternal consequences." Mark 3:28-29
The LORD is slow to anger and filled with unfailing
love, forgiving every kind of sin and rebellion. But he does not excuse the
guilty. He lays the sins of the parents upon their children; the entire family
is affected--even children in the third and fourth generations. Numbers 14:18
You must warn each other every day, while it is
still "today," so that none of you will be deceived by sin and
hardened against God. Hebrews 3:13
If you see a Christian brother or sister sinning in
a way that does not lead to death, you should pray, and God will give that
person life. But there is a sin that leads to death, and I am not saying you
should pray for those who commit it. All wicked actions are sin, but not every
sin leads to death. ... Dear children, keep away from anything that might take
God's place in your hearts. 1 John 5:16-17, 21
My dear children, I am writing this to you so that
you will not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate who pleads our
case before the Father. He is Jesus Christ, the one who is truly righteous. 1 John 2:1
And you know that Jesus came to take away our sins,
and there is no sin in him. 1 John 3:5
Time may be
drawing short for believers here on earth. Jesus said to “Repent.” Mark 1:15.
What are you going to do? Consider who Jesus is to you…and if you will be
obedient to God.
Prayer
~ Lord God, everyone has
sinned; we all fall short of God's glorious standard. In Your grace and mercy may we be obedient to
Your word…to Your commands—that we would live to please and honor You here on
earth…as it will be one day in heaven.
