Faith is a wonderful thing. It is a gift. For by grace you have been saved through
faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works,
so that no one may boast. Ephesians 2:8-9. When I was teaching a first grade Sunday School class I remember
taking a fancy present to church and letting the children unwrap it to find the
word FAITH inside. God gives us faith—we just have to accept that gift. If we
leave it wrapped up or in the box, it is of no use to us. Rejected. Likewise,
we can’t say that we got our faith in Christ ourselves. We can’t brag and be
all proud and puffed up that we are adopted by God—He chose us. Have a little
humility. It is a privilege to be chosen—and to accept His gift. Have you
accepted or rejected His gift—Christ Jesus? Are you united with Christ in
baptism?
Prayer
~ Holy Spirit—refresh our hearts that we would humbly be renewed to the
knowledge of the GIFT of Christ in our lives—and that we would join our hearts
with Christ as children of the Heavenly Father—being obedient, as Christ was—living
by faith.
Happy Birthday, Sweet Lucy!
