Blessings from faith! Believing in what is hoped
for…and not seen (Hebrews 11:1). Sometimes it is hard to believe in things we
can’t see. We don’t see molecules that make up our very being…unless we have
access to an electron microscope—or look on the internet for a cellular photograph.
Nor do we see angels or God…but we know—we believe—they are real…they are with
us. When I was in high school we sang a song, “I Believe.” It is still a song
that touches my heart.
I believe for every drop of rain
that falls
A flower grows
I believe that somewhere in the darkest night
A candle glows
I believe for everyone that goes astray
Someone will come to show the way
I believe
I believe
I believe above the storm the smallest prayer
Will still be heard
I believe that Someone in the great somewhere
Hears every word
Every time I hear a newborn baby cry
Or touch a leaf
Or see the sky
Then I know why I believe
Every time I hear a newborn baby cry
Or touch a leaf
Or see the sky
Then I know why I believe.
A flower grows
I believe that somewhere in the darkest night
A candle glows
I believe for everyone that goes astray
Someone will come to show the way
I believe
I believe
I believe above the storm the smallest prayer
Will still be heard
I believe that Someone in the great somewhere
Hears every word
Every time I hear a newborn baby cry
Or touch a leaf
Or see the sky
Then I know why I believe
Every time I hear a newborn baby cry
Or touch a leaf
Or see the sky
Then I know why I believe.
Someone
in the great somewhere—we can’t see but we believe exists. That’s faith in God.
Faith in what—in who—we can’t see. Are you looking for God? Do you have faith
to believe in what you can’t see.
Prayer
~ Holy Spirit, open our eyes and heart to believe in what—and who—we can’t see.
Give us faith like Abraham to believe—to rely on You.
