Moses saw a burning bush…but not the face
of God. Jacob wrestled with …a man, or was it an angel…or God Himself? Jacob
named the place Peniel (which means "face of God"), for he said,
"I have seen God face to face, yet my life has been spared." Genesis
32:30 NLT. This scripture in 1 John tells us that no one has ever seen God—that is God the Father. God the Son,
Jesus, was seen by thousands of people. He actually fed five thousand and then
three thousand men, plus their families. That is a lot of people. That was a
lot of love—to feed all those people. He fed them spiritually—teaching them how
to live in accord with each other…and then He fed them with nourishing food,
physically meeting their need to sustain their bodies with energy. Here in this verse above God reminds us that
He lives in us in the form of His Holy Spirit. That is love—that He chooses us
to live in us—if we love each other. Love each other. When was the last time
you showed a fellow Christian love? Have you shared a smile, hug, encouraging
word or verse today?
Prayer
~ Holy Spirit, let Your love shine through us that we would share Your love
with everyone around us—expressing God’s love.
