Ask—God wants
us to ask Him for things we want and need. Spiritual things, too. That would
include the Holy Spirit. Beloved, if our
heart does not condemn us, we have confidence before God; and whatever we ask
we receive from Him, because we keep His commandments and do the things that
are pleasing in His sight. 1 John 3:21-22. "And all things you ask in prayer, believing, you will
receive." Matthew 21:22. Ask away! Have you ever asked for the Holy
Spirit? I have. And God heard my prayer and filled me with His Holy Spirit. A
joyous day. It is not just a one-time experience. I have asked to be renewed
and refreshed many times. Create in me a
clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. Psalm 51:10. It
is part of the sanctification process—being continually renewed in the Spirit.
Seeking a life of holiness. Holiness unto the Lord. … that,
in reference to your former manner of life, you lay aside the old self, which
is being corrupted in accordance with the lusts of deceit, and that you be
renewed in the spirit of your mind, and put on the new self, which in the
likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth. Ephesians
4:22-24. Where do you stand with the Lord?
Prayer ~ Heavenly Father, Create in me a clean heart and
renew a steadfast spirit within me. Fill me again and refresh me with Your Holy
Spirit. May my heart and my life be pleasing to You, Lord.
