Glory to the Father, Son and Holy Spirit

When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own but will tell you what he has heard. He will tell you about the future. He will bring me glory by telling you whatever he receives from me. All that belongs to the Father is mine; this is why I said, 'The Spirit will tell you whatever he receives from me.' John 16:13-15 NLT

One thing that The Holy Spirit and Jesus have in common is that they both listen and speak what they hear. Here in this scripture today we see that the Holy Spirit speaks what He hears from Jesus. Jesus speaks what He hears from the Father. For I did not speak on My own initiative, but the Father Himself who sent Me has given Me a commandment as to what to say and what to speak. I know that His commandment is eternal life; therefore the things I speak, I speak just as the Father has told Me. John 12:49-50. Jesus’ focus was to give glory to the Father…and the Holy Spirit’s goal is to give glory to the Son…to Jesus. As an example for us…we shouldn’t speak on our own initiative, but on what we hear…from the Holy Spirit…or from what we read in God’s word. May God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit be glorified in what we think, say and do.

Prayer ~ Holy Spirit, guide us into all truth. Show us things about Jesus that we didn’t understand…or that we just didn’t see before. Set our hearts on fire to share what Jesus is doing in our lives—and about the eternal life that is offered to us as a gift from God. A gift. No work involved.
