He rejoiced…that is Jesus rejoiced in the
Holy Spirit. He had just sent seventy of His disciples out to heal the sick and
to witness about Him. The Holy Spirit was continually in Jesus—and Jesus was
delighted because people were being saved. They believed in Him as their
Savior. He said not to rejoice that the spirits were subject to those 70
disciples, but that they were headed to Heaven—their names were recorded in the
Book of Life. Do you rejoice—celebrate when someone is saved?
When was the last time you led someone to
the Lord? Do you have a plan…an intentional idea or strategy for sharing Jesus
with others? Do you feel that you need to be “specifically” trained in
evangelism…or that it is not your “gift”? Just before His ascension into Heaven
Jesus told His disciples… "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing
them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them
to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the
end of the age." Matthew 28:19-20. The same command is for each of us
today. We can’t ignore His command. Meet people at their point of need and the
Holy Spirit will guide you in what to do and say.
Prayer
~ Holy Spirit, show me the person with whom You want me to share the Good News
and help me to lead them to Jesus…whether it takes a day, a month or years. I
understand that just leading them to Jesus doesn’t “disciple” them, but it
takes an investment in my time and energy to help them develop a lasting
relationship with You.
