Where Did He Learn?

Then they scoffed, "He's just the carpenter's son, and we know Mary, his mother, and his brothers--James, Joseph, Simon, and Judas. All his sisters live right here among us. Where did he learn all these things?" Matthew 13:55-56 NLT

Where did Jesus learn…where did He get His wisdom and power? When He was just twelve and went to Jerusalem it was recognized that He was very smart. His parents started back to Nazareth without Him and then went back to Jerusalem when they discovered He wasn’t with them. ... after three days they found Him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers, both listening to them and asking them questions. And all who heard Him were amazed at His understanding and His answers. …Jesus kept increasing in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men. Luke 2: 46-47, 52.  Jesus is wisdom. But by His doing you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption…. 1 Corinthians 1:30. Where did He learn all these things? He has known the wisdom of the ages and the power of the universe since He created it. He may have appeared to just be the carpenter’s son…but He is so much more. Who is He to you?

RSVP: Jesus is inviting us to understand Him more deeply—to gain His wisdom for ourselves. How will you respond to Him today?

Prayer ~ Dear Lord Jesus, give us insight into Your wisdom and You ways. Guide our thoughts, words and actions as we trust You with all our hearts. We will not lean on our own understanding, but in all our ways we acknowledge You, knowing that You will make our paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6
