Nothing To Eat

Then Jesus called His disciples to Him and said, I have pity and sympathy and am deeply moved for the crowd, because they have been with Me now three days and they have nothing [at all left] to eat; and I am not willing to send them away hungry, lest they faint or become exhausted on the way. Matthew 15:32 Amplified

Pity. Compassion. Jesus felt compassion for  the great multitude that came to Him for healing (Matthew 15:30-31). He had already healed probably thousands—and they had been with Him for three days with probably very little to eat during that time. Now—nothing to eat. Jesus didn’t want them to faint on their way home. Was He testing His disciples? He had already fed five thousand men and their families. What would you have done if you had been there?

RSVP: Jesus was offering compassion to this multitude of followers to whom He had just ministered. He offers us the same compassion and spiritual food.

Prayer ~ Feed me, Jesus. Fill me with fresh spiritual insight that I might be a better servant with You—reaching out to the lost and broken.
