End of Sermon on the Mount – Are You Amazed?

When Jesus had finished these sayings [the Sermon on the Mount], the crowds were astonished and overwhelmed with bewildered wonder at His teaching, for He was teaching as One Who had [and was] authority, and not as [did] the scribes.  Matthew 7:28-29 Amplified

Jesus finished His teachings in the Sermon on the Mount there by the Sea of Galilee. In this He was teaching His followers and His disciples about the way of righteous living and the righteousness of God, not about salvation. This is still applicable today.  When you read Matthew chapters 5-7 are you amazed or astonished as the crowd who heard Jesus speak? Do you follow Jesus’ teachings when it comes to His laws of murder reconciliation, adultery, divorce, oaths, nonresistance or love? (Matthew 5:17-48) Do you pray, give, fast, or avoid anxiety as He taught? Do you judge…or not judge? Do you have a foundation in Jesus Christ for your life? (Matthew 6-7).

RSVP: Jesus has authority given to Him by God the Father. He taught His followers two thousand years ago how to live righteously, and that applies to us today. How will you respond to His teaching today?

Prayer ~ Jesus, You may have been finished teaching that multitude of people there at the hillside near Chorazin, but Your teachings are so very important to me—to help me and my family and friends live in a way that is pleasing to You…and our Heavenly Father. Thank you.
