Celebrate! Christmas in October

Therefore let us celebrate the feast, not with old leaven, nor with the leaven of malice and wickedness, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth. 1 Corinthians 5:8

I just celebrated Christmas with my extended family—in October. We usually get together the Saturday after Thanksgiving, but this year we got together a bit earlier. My sister and her husband got married 25 years ago…and then they were killed eight weeks later. So in honor of them we gathered to celebrate their anniversary…and Christmas. Jesus IS the reason for the season…and the reason for everyday! Celebrate! Celebrate the feast! The FEAST of Christmas. The Jews celebrated the Jewish festivals with feasts as God directed Moses to instruct them. Our celebrations are festivals—but with a different emphasis—Jesus. For our family this weekend it was nice to get-together and party with the emphasis on Jesus and family relationships—not secular emphasis. Try it—celebrate Jesus at a different time of the year than December 25th. The emphasis will be where you place it. What would you do to celebrate Jesus?

RSVP: Jesus is inviting us to celebrate Him every day! How will you respond to Him?

Prayer: Dear Jesus—we celebrate Your birth and Your life. You are the reason for every day…for life. We love You.
