Worship in Spirit and in Truth

The woman said to Him, "Sir, I perceive that You are a prophet. Our fathers worshiped in this mountain, and you people say that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship." Jesus said to her, "Woman, believe Me, an hour is coming when neither in this mountain nor in Jerusalem will you worship the Father. You worship what you do not know; we worship what we know, for salvation is from the Jews. But an hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers. God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth." John 4:19-24

She thought Jesus was a prophet...little did she know that she was talking to the Messiah--the Son of God--to God Himself. She was concerned about where to worship God, on Mount Gerizim rather than in Jerusalem where the Jews worshipped Yahweh.  It wasn't about where, but about WHO--the true spiritual God. He is the one that Jesus was encouraging this woman to worship...and He is the one that Jesus wants us to worship also.

RSVP: How will you respond to Jesus' invitation today? Do you see Jesus as a prophet and good teacher...or as the Son of God and our Messiah? Will you worship Him in spirit and in truth?

Prayer~ Dear Jesus, I worship You in spirit and in truth. My body still craves for food--especially for chocolate chip cookies today--but I know that You have spiritual nourishment for us. Just as You offered the Woman at the Well spiritual living water--You offer us spiritual growth. Help me to catch this message and to share it with others.
