Jesus’ call
here was very specific. “Follow Me.” In
Matthew 9:9, He calls Matthew with the same phrase, “Follow Me.” Matthew did
just that—he got up and followed Jesus. Other disciples didn’t respond the same
way. See Matthew 8:22 where a disciple wants to bury his father before
following Jesus. Jesus responds with…let the dead bury their own dead. This
young man’s father wasn’t dead yet…he just wasn’t ready to leave home. Time
waits for no man. There may not be another opportunity for you to
respond to Jesus—don’t wait until later. Make your choice.
RSVP: Do you
hear…and will you respond to Jesus’ call to follow Him?
Prayer ~ Jesus,
I hear You calling me every day…”Follow Me.” Today—I choose to do just that.
Help my friends, family, and those we meet to choose to do the same thing. We
will have a great Banquet with You one day.
