And it shall be in the last days, God says, that I will
pour forth of my spirit on all mankind; and your sons and your daughters shall
prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream
dreams…. Acts 2:17
God spoke
through the prophet Joel showing the Israelites that the catastrophes of
drought and locust that they were experiencing were the result of their sins.
He was also foretelling their future as the major theme of that book is “The
Day of the Lord” and includes the time of the Great Tribulation and the
Millennium which are yet to come. Peter preached to the Israelites at Pentecost
from the book of Joel. As Israel repents and turns to the Lord (Joel 2:12-17)
their young men will see visions.
Visions of heaven and of the Lord coming again. Whatever those visions, they
are from the Holy Spirit who will be there to bless and deliver them for
believing in the Messiah—calling on the name of the Lord.
Training Tip – Have you ever shared with your children that the
Lord is going to come again to earth…and take those who believe in Him to
Heaven? Read them a portion of that story from a children’s Bible—one with
pictures showing Jesus on a white horse riding to victory. They need to know
that He is victorious for them. Jesus loves us so much. With toddlers and very
young children, sing Jesus Loves Me.
With older children choose another song to worship Him, like Kari Jobe’s
Revelation Song:

Lord Jesus, pour out Your Spirit on us that we would
not only see visions and dream dreams, but that You would give us wisdom to
understand You more deeply and share You with those in our community and
neighborhood. Bless the people of Israel that they would embrace You as their personal
Messiah and call upon Your name, Jesus.
