Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things will be added to you. Matthew 6:33
The scripture passage from Matthew 6:33 was used as lyrics for a song written in 1971 by Karen Lafferty. When Jesus spoke these words to the crowd of thousands on the hillside above the Sea of Galilee in what we know as The Sermon on the Mount, He was speaking to them about anxiety in their lives over what the people should eat, drink, or wear. No problem...put God first and He will provide everything you need! What a promise! Focus on that and make it your vision. No anxiety necessary--let it go.
Training Tip - If your family doesn't already know this song "Seek Ye First" then teach it to them. Discuss the Sermon on the Mount in which these words were first spoken by Jesus and explain what He was trying to tell the crowd listening to Him.
Dear Jesus, we rely on You for what we eat, drink, and wear, as well as for health and safety for our family and friends, and a roof over our heads. Thank you for providing all these things--and showing us the Kingdom of God.
