Read Matthew 19:16-30
What good thing shall I do to obtain eternal life?....keep the commandments....Which ones?....
With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible. Matthew 19:16, 17, 18, 26
Jesus had such vision for the lost...and such honesty when questioned about eternal life.
The young Jewish man wanted to earn his way--doing good works to get into Heaven. Then he has the nerve to ask Jesus which commandments he has to keep! What do you mean "which ones!" I'm surprised that Jesus didn't tell him to keep ALL the commandments. We have it easier--just BELIEVE and you will be saved. Confess your sins believing that Jesus died on the cross for you. Just like John the Baptist--and then Jesus Himself taught--repent (Luke 13:3). With God all things are possible. That includes forgiveness for our sins--mine and yours--no matter what they are. Forgiven. Washed away--never to be remembered again. Our God is a loving and forgiving God.
Training Tip – Have your children memorized the Ten Commandments?
This would be a good summertime project. Work with them and have them memorize one a week for the next ten weeks. Use a translation that you prefer--or one that is their own Bible version. Do they have a children's Bible?
Ten Commandments
- I am the Lord, your God. You shall
have no other gods.
- Thou shall bring no false idols
before me.
- Do not take the name of the Lord
in vain.
- Remember the Sabbath and keep it holy.
- Honor
thy father and thy mother.
- Thou shall not kill/murder.
- Thou shall not commit adultery.
- Thou shall not steal.
- Thou shall not bear false witness
against your neighbor.
- Thou shall not covet your
neighbor's wife (or anything that belongs to your neighbor).

Lord God, Thank you that all things are possible with
You. Help us to keep Your commandments, to believe, to repent, and to tell
others about how grateful we are that You are in our lives. We praise You.
