Enthusiastically Pleasing

And He who sent Me is with Me; He has not left Me alone, for I always do the things that are pleasing to Him. John 8:29

Once again Jesus tells us that He does the things that are pleasing to His Father. He spent a lot of time in prayer—communicating with His Father—so He knew just what His Dad expected of Him and wanted Him to do. How much time do you spend communicating with your Heavenly Father? Do you know just what He wants you to do—what He expects of you? How about time spent with your children? Do you communicate with them just what you expect of them and want them to do? Do you tell and show them every day that you love them?

God the Father didn’t leave Jesus alone. It is the same for us. Jesus has promised us in Hebrews 13:5 that He will never leave us or forsake us. That is a promise to which I cling—holding on tightly. Jesus is with me in the joys and sorrows of life. I’m somewhat of an introvert—so I like my time alone…but it is wonderful knowing that Jesus is always with me. Knowing that He is with me makes a difference in what I think, do and say. Whatever I do…I do want to please Him. Enthusiastically.

Training Tip – Kids love talking on the phone and they love projects with their folks. Have you ever made a string tin can phone with your children? Save a couple of tin cans, wash them, and punch a small hole in the closed end. Then take a string about three feet or more in length and put one end through each of the cans. Next tie a large knot in the string so that it can’t go back out the hole. Pull the string taunt between the cans and have one person speak into one can while another person “listens” at the second can…they’ll love these new phones, too! Communication with God or with other people is essential to life. Humor is good, too. Try telling some jokes between the phones. Whatever you say and do…do it enthusiastically!

Lord Jesus, may the words of my mouth and the thoughts of my heart be pleasing in Your sight, for You are my rock and my redeemer (Psalm 19:14).
