Dear brothers and sisters, not many of you should become teachers in the church, for we who teach will be judged more strictly. Indeed, we all make many mistakes. For if we could control our tongues, we would be perfect and could also control ourselves in every other way. We can make a large horse go wherever we want by means of a small bit in its mouth. And a small rudder makes a huge ship turn wherever the pilot chooses to go, even though the winds are strong. In the same way, the tongue is a small thing that makes grand speeches. But a tiny spark can set a great forest on fire. And the tongue is a flame of fire. It is a whole world of wickedness, corrupting your entire body. It can set your whole life on fire, for it is set on fire by hell itself. James 3:1-6
Perfect.
Perfect? I keep reminding myself that only Jesus was perfect. I’m not—and it is
my tongue, and thought life, that get me into trouble. Nearly Perfect Rose.
Prayer
– Lord Jesus, thank you for being perfect. Will I ever truly be like You?
Meditate.
Consider God’s perfection and His advice as written through James.
Verse
of Salvation ~ What we do see is Jesus, who was given a position "a little
lower than the angels"; and because he suffered death for us, he is now
"crowned with glory and honor." Yes, by God's grace, Jesus tasted
death for everyone. God, for whom and through whom everything was made, chose
to bring many children into glory. And it was only right that he should make
Jesus, through his suffering, a perfect leader, fit to bring them into their
salvation. Hebrews
