There
is no other God like our God. He is the only God. I was reminded today that
Jesus called God the Father, “Father.” We can only call God “Father” if Jesus
is our Savior. Jesus said…
I am the way, the truth, and the
life. No one can come to the Father except through me. John 14:6
Paul
wrote to the church at Rome about being adopted into God’s family.
So you have not received a spirit
that makes you fearful slaves. Instead, you received God's Spirit when He
adopted you as His own children. Now we call Him, "Abba,
Father." Romans
8:15
Adopted.
Adopted by the greatest Dad—The Abba Father! It’s been said that people
visualize God in a way that speaks to them. Since this is Saint Patrick’s Day…and
I’ve Irish heritage, I’ve been thinking about one of my ancestors. My
Great-grandfather was an Irishman with flaming red hair when he was young that
gave way to a stunning head of snow-white hair with pink streaks when he was in
his late eighties and I knew him. That was long before pink hair was some kind
of fashion statement. Do I visualize God as my Great-grandfather…an Abba
Father? Would we be eating Corned Beef and cabbage together today?
Mother Hen...gathering her chicks. |
O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city
that kills the prophets and stones God's messengers! How often I have wanted to
gather your children together as a hen protects her chicks beneath her wings,
but you wouldn't let me. Matthew
23:37
No one
can snatch you out of God’s hand…if you believe and God is your Father.
"But
you are my witnesses, O Israel!" says the LORD. "You are my servant.
You have been chosen to know me, believe in me, and understand that I alone am
God. There is no other God—there never has been, and there never will be. I,
yes I, am the LORD, and there is no other Savior. First I predicted your
rescue, then I saved you and proclaimed it to the world. No foreign god has
ever done this. You are witnesses that I am the only God," says the LORD.
"From eternity to eternity I am God. No one can snatch anyone out of my
hand. No one can undo what I have done." Isaiah 43:10-13
Prayer
~ Dear God, bless each of us today as we remember St. Patrick—a shepherd slave
who became a Christian believer in Ireland. Like St. Patrick may we continue to
seek You, Lord, and be devoted to You in all that we think, say and do.
Meditate.
Consider God as your Abba, Father.
Verse
of Salvation ~ The LORD lives! Praise to my Rock! May the God of my salvation
be exalted! Psalm 18:46
