Light vs Darkness

Daily we face light vs darkness.
Who is the Light of the World to you?
Job, in the Old Testament was distraught with the traumatic situation in which he was living. Nothing seemed to go right and yet he didn’t give up on God, even when evil seemed to prevail. He was searching for the light. Was it the Light of the World, Jesus, by which he longed to be rescued?

So I looked for good, but evil came instead. I waited for the light, but darkness fell.  Job 30:26

Consider how Jesus taught a crowd of people and rebuked the Pharisee with His wisdom. He said that when an evil spirit leaves a person…more may more in.

"When an evil spirit leaves a person, it goes into the desert, seeking rest but finding none. Then it says, 'I will return to the person I came from.' So it returns and finds its former home empty, swept, and in order. Then the spirit finds seven other spirits more evil than itself, and they all enter the person and live there. And so that person is worse off than before. That will be the experience of this evil generation." Matthew 12:43-45

Beware. Don’t let evil into your life. As Jesus wisely taught, if you have dark sinister influence in you life, get rid the evil, and then fill your life with good so that the evil doesn’t come back stronger. Read between the lines. Keep the light on in your life—don’t let the darkness prevail.

How are you doing with the light versus darkness in your life today?

Now the Spirit of the LORD had left Saul, and the LORD sent a tormenting spirit that filled him with depression and fear. Some of Saul's servants said to him, "A tormenting spirit from God is troubling you. Let us find a good musician to play the harp whenever the tormenting spirit troubles you. He will play soothing music, and you will soon be well again." "All right," Saul said. "Find me someone who plays well, and bring him here." 1 Samuel 16:14-17

Prayer – Lord Jesus, You are the Light of the World. Shine into my heart…and the hearts of my family, friends, neighbors, associates, and community. We need You to give us inspiration, guidance, and hope. Block the darkness within our community and country that we would be able to offer hope to others—as You work in and through us. You are amazing. Thank you for being our Lord and Savior.

Meditate. Consider light in scripture. Read God’s word and listen to what He is saying.

Verses of Salvation ~ For you are all children of the light and of the day; we don't belong to darkness and night. So be on your guard, not asleep like the others. Stay alert and be clearheaded. Night is the time when people sleep and drinkers get drunk. But let us who live in the light be clearheaded, protected by the armor of faith and love, and wearing as our helmet the confidence of our salvation. ... So encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are already doing. 1 Thessalonians 5:5-8, 11
