Prayer – Lord, please give us wisdom and understanding that we would know You more completely. Please fill that empty hole in our hearts with Your love, wisdom, and understanding.
For since, in the wisdom of God, the world through wisdom did not know God, it pleased God through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe. For Jews request a sign, and Greeks seek after wisdom; but we preach Christ crucified, to the Jews a stumbling block and to the Greeks foolishness, but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men. 1 Corinthians 1:21-25 NKJV
Meditate.
Wisdom.
What is
wisdom?
Words
from God Himself, as spoken by Job are recorded in the book of Job.
Then He saw wisdom and declared it;
He prepared it, indeed, He searched it out. And to man He said, 'Behold, the
fear of the Lord, that is wisdom, And to depart from evil is
understanding.' Job 28:27-28 NKJV
Respect
or fear of the Lord is mentioned in several places in the Bible as a good
starting place for understanding wisdom. With wisdom and respect for God we
will have understanding of Him. To know Him is to love Him…and knowing God more
each day is my goal.
The fear of the LORD is the
beginning of wisdom, And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. Proverbs 9:10 NKJV
There is
a void—a hole—in everyone’s heart that can only be filled by God. We are born
with that. People have even written books about this longing that we all have. There
is an innate desire to have this emptiness filled up somehow. Some people fill
that void by being obsessed, entertained, and amused by movies, sports, hobbies,
or even their vocation. I think that it is with the wisdom of God that He gives
us the desire to seek Him. Jesus gave some insight into seeking the kingdom of
God in His Sermon on the Mount when He spoke to His disciples and a multitude
of followers.
Therefore do not worry, saying,
'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' For
after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that
you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His
righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not
worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient
for the day is its own trouble.
Matthew 6:31-34 NKJV Underlined for emphasis.)
Seek God
to really know Him and allow Him to fill that hole in your heart with which you were
born.
Verse
of Salvation ~ But what does it say? "The word is near you, in your mouth
and in your heart" (that is, the word of faith which we preach): that if
you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God
has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one
believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto
salvation. Romans
