What is Your Inheritance?

Prayer – Lord Jesus, You are holy—and have sacrificed so much for all mankind. I am in awe of You—and even though I am not worthy…You love me enough to die for me. I accept You as my Savior and look forward to the inheritance that You have for me in heaven. Thank you!

God the Father knew you and chose you long ago, and his Spirit has made you holy. As a result, you have obeyed him and have been cleansed by the blood of Jesus Christ. May God give you more and more grace and peace. All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is by his great mercy that we have been born again, because God raised Jesus Christ from the dead. Now we live with great expectation, and we have a priceless inheritance—an inheritance that is kept in heaven for you, pure and undefiled, beyond the reach of change and decay. 1 Peter 1:2-4 NLT

Meditate. Consider your inheritance.

What is your inheritance? On earth, you might inherit some land, a house, a car, some old family jewelry, or maybe some bills. If you are like me, you just don’t need any more STUFF! Fortunately, you can’t take any stuff with you into heaven, so someone else will be “inheriting” it. The stuff that you take into heaven is spiritual.

LORD, you alone are my inheritance, my cup of blessing. You guard all that is mine. Psalm 16:5

Furthermore, because we are united with Christ, we have received an inheritance from God, for he chose us in advance, and he makes everything work out according to his plan. Ephesians 1:11

The Spirit is God's guarantee that he will give us the inheritance he promised and that he has purchased us to be his own people. He did this so we would praise and glorify him. Ephesians 1:14

Actually, not a moth...but a
hypna clytemnestra butterfly.
Will it damage things it eats?

Jesus told His disciples and followers that they needed to store up stuff in heaven not on earth where it will rot or eaten by moths.

Don't store up treasures here on earth, where moths eat them and rust destroys them, and where thieves break in and steal. Store your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal. Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be. Matthew 6:19-21

What are you storing up here on earth? What are you storing up in heaven? Is this your inheritance?

Verse of Salvation ~ While Jesus was here on earth, he offered prayers and pleadings, with a loud cry and tears, to the one who could rescue him from death. And God heard his prayers because of his deep reverence for God. Even though Jesus was God's Son, he learned obedience from the things he suffered. In this way, God qualified him as a perfect High Priest, and he became the source of eternal salvation for all those who obey him. Hebrews 5:7-9
