Honor is no more associated with fools than
snow with summer or rain with harvest. Proverbs 26:1
Honor. To have integrity in one’s beliefs or
to have respect for another. Honor is sought after by all kinds of people—they
want to be honored. That may make them
look like a fool…and April Fool’s is past—so they’re the biggest fool at last.
Honor just doesn’t suit those who seek it. Honor is bestowed on those who humble
themselves before the Lord and serve others. Honor is given to those who serve
and die…that others may live. What does honor have to do with wisdom? It is the
wise ones who are honored. No snow in summer—but have you been on a high
mountain, like Mt. Rainier, in the summer…covered with snow. Years ago there
were even snow caves that were so refreshing to walk into on hot days. I remember basking in the coolness after a hot hike from Paradise. Snow in
summer—yes. But no honor for fools.
Prayer
~ Lord, give us wisdom that we would honor You. Honor You in all that we think,
say and do. Let us not be known as fools—but as ones of pure white snow—washed clean
by the blood of Jesus.
Wisdom Quote: The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be
honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have
lived and lived well.
