Foolish Arguments

Don't answer the foolish arguments of fools, or you will become as foolish as they are. Proverbs 26:4.

Know-it-all fools will usually try to drag you into an argument to prove that they are right…they feel they are always right. It’s the sign of a fool. Do you see it invisibly written across their forehead, I’M ALWAYS RIGHT—I’M A FOOL? But we know that no one besides God is ALWAYS right. Usually what difference does it make anyway? Solomon had wise advice for us…don’t get involved with worthless foolish arguments—unless you want to become a fool. Who wants that? So what do you do?
Best thing is not to associate with those fools—but if you can’t avoid them, then be honest that whatever it is that they want to argue about (politics, religion, sensuality or whatever), you do NOT want to discuss. You can always try to steer the conversation to another topic, but it is likely that the fool will still want to dominate that topic. Ugh. Is there anything they aren’t a know-it-all about? Do they know God and His Word? Don’t be a fool about arguing about things you don’t know anything about. Maybe you can find a topic in which they are an expert—and then let them rant on. You’ll only have to listen…not argue.

Prayer ~ Lord God, I want to honor you in all I think, do and say. I don’t want to argue with You…or with anyone. I like peace—Your peace.
What sorrow awaits those who argue with their Creator. Does a clay pot argue with its maker? Does the clay dispute with the one who shapes it, saying, 'Stop, you're doing it wrong!' Does the pot exclaim, 'How clumsy can you be?' Isaiah 45:9.
