Do Your Heart’s Desires Fit God’s Plan?

Plans succeed through good counsel; don't go to war without wise advice. Proverbs 20:18

The best counsel is with God…as David wrote…In times of trouble, may the LORD answer your cry. May the name of the God of Jacob keep you safe from all harm. May He send you help from His sanctuary and strengthen you from Jerusalem. May He remember all your gifts and look favorably on your burnt offerings. May He grant your heart's desires and make all your plans succeed. Psalm 20:1-4.

I love that…that God would give me the desires of my heart. Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be. Matthew 6:21.

My heart’s desire is just to please the Lord. LORD, we show our trust in you by obeying your laws; our heart's desire is to glorify your name. Isaiah 26:8. His plans are my goals in life. No war—although daily trials can be interpreted as combat or warfare—spiritual warfare—for some people. It takes good advice to make it through some conflicts. Seek some good advice from wise people who know God. So don't go to war without wise guidance; victory depends on having many advisers. Proverbs 24:6. What are your heart’s desires? Who are your counselors?

Prayer ~ Dear God, give me friends and Christian advisers that help guide me through the spiritual warfare that confronts us all. Give each of us wisdom that we would follow Your plans for our lives. We want to live to please You.
