What did He do? Good works. Stoning was a custom for adultery and other serious crimes or actions. But what had Jesus done? Good works--healing the sick, restoring sight to the blind, making the lame to walk, and feeding thousands. Good question as to which of those good works was worthy of stoning. What do you think?
My husband, Jerry, and I are here in Lisbon, Portugal on a Work & Witness project to establish a coffeehouse in the community of Merces. Jerry fell down a couple a stairs last Thursday evening and broke his left hip--so now he is on the receiving end of the good works. The Portuguese people-like people almost everywhere--are individuals--unique in themselves. No two exactly alike. Some friendly--some helpful--some compassionate. We came to serve and be a blessing to others--and instead we are being served. We just have to trust God that He has a plan--that He will heal Jerry quickly after the surgery he had on Monday--and that He will get us home with as little pain as possible. Trust. Trust in The Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding, but in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6.
RSVP: What good work is Jesus asking you to do today? How will you respond to Him?
Prayer~ We are putting our trust in you Jesus. We won't throw any stones--but wait on You for direction as to what good works You would have us do for Your Kingdom.
