Prayer – Lord, You are so gracious to give those churches and each of us counselling. We constantly need Your wisdom and advice. Your counsel. Thank you for the Holy Spirit who reminds us of Your teachings which were straightforward in the Old and New Testaments.
If a person does not repent, God will
sharpen his sword; he will bend and string his bow. Psalm 7:12God's bow in the heavens.
Perhaps the people of Judah will
repent when they hear again all the terrible things I have planned for them.
Then I will be able to forgive their sins and wrongdoings." Jeremiah
36:3
From then on Jesus began to preach,
"Repent of your sins and turn to God, for the Kingdom of Heaven is
near." Matthew 4:17
Meditate. Consider God’s counsel in scripture. As God spoke through the prophet Jeremiah…Perhaps. Perhaps the people of Judah will when they hear again all the terrible things I have planned for them. Those people didn’t get it then…do we now? Do you understand that repenting is still a necessary response to do towards God? Jesus preached for people to repent at the beginning of His ministry…and continued even to through the Book of Revelation. That is one of the major themes in His counselling of the seven churches. Repent. Are you listening? I find that it is a necessary action for me on a daily basis—not just when I surrendered my life to Jesus as my Lord and Savior. I challenge you to examine Jesus’ counsel to the churches and reflect on your own life.
