Who is the Messiah to You—Should We Keep Looking?

Prayer – Lord - Please give us wisdom and understanding, Elohim. Thank You God for loving the whole world—especially those people from various countries who have read this blog. You are an awesome Elohim—my Lord and Savior. Thank you for forgiving me for my sins--my self-righteous thoughts and actions. May You show me—as well as my readers, my family, friends, neighbors and associates—the way You would have us to live to please You in all that we think, say and do. May You be glorified, our Yeshua HaMashiach.

The disciples of John the Baptist told John about everything Jesus was doing. So John called for two of his disciples, and he sent them to the Lord to ask him, "Are you the Messiah we've been expecting, or should we keep looking for someone else?" John's two disciples found Jesus and said to him, "John the Baptist sent us to ask, 'Are you the Messiah we've been expecting, or should we keep looking for someone else?'" At that very time, Jesus cured many people of their diseases, illnesses, and evil spirits, and he restored sight to many who were blind. Then he told John's disciples, "Go back to John and tell him what you have seen and heard--the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cured, the deaf hear, the dead are raised to life, and the Good News is being preached to the poor. And tell him, 'God blesses those who do not turn away because of me.'"  Luke 7:18-23

 

Meditate on these verses. Consider how Jesus was described in Revelation...and in other parts of the New Testament. 

Are you the Messiah we've been expecting, or should we keep looking for someone else? Should we keep looking? Many Jews are still looking! Watching and waiting for their Messiah. The Jews know the Savior as…Yeshua HaMashiach—the Anointed One. Those names have been translated as “Jesus Christ” yet we need to consider who it is we worship. The name “Jesus” is translated from the Greek IZEUS, or son of Zeus, a Greek god. The word Messiah has been mistranslated from the words Yeshua HaMashiach. Maybe we need to become students of the Hebrew language? Have the names in the Bible been translated into English names that are not in keeping with what Elohim originally spoke? This is all a mystery. Have we been deceived? Should we be looking for Yeshua HaMashiach in the text of the Bible? Is our God still God if we address Him as “God” rather than Elohim? Is Jesus still Jesus…or do we need to use the name of Yeshua HaMashiach when we pray to Him? We need some fresh understanding as we consider the translations and transliteration of our beloved Bible.

Verse of Salvation ~ All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is by his great mercy that we have been born again, because God raised Jesus Christ from the dead. Now we live with great expectation, and we have a priceless inheritance—an inheritance that is kept in heaven for you, pure and undefiled, beyond the reach of change and decay. And through your faith, God is protecting you by his power until you receive this salvation, which is ready to be revealed on the last day for all to see. 1 Peter 1:3-5
