How Do I Get Eternal Life?

As Jesus was starting out on his way to Jerusalem, a man came running up to him, knelt down, and asked, "Good Teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?" "Why do you call me good?" Jesus asked. "Only God is truly good. But to answer your question, you know the commandments: 'You must not murder. You must not commit adultery. You must not steal. You must not testify falsely. You must not cheat anyone. Honor your father and mother.'" "Teacher," the man replied, "I've obeyed all these commandments since I was young." Looking at the man, Jesus felt genuine love for him. "There is still one thing you haven't done," he told him. "Go and sell all your possessions and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me." At this the man's face fell, and he went away sad, for he had many possessions. Mark 10:17-22

What must I do to inherit eternal life….to be saved...to be born again? Jesus had a similar conversation with the Pharisee Nicodemus. [Read John 3:1-21.]
Jesus replied, "I tell you the truth, unless you are born again, you cannot see the Kingdom of God." ... And as Moses lifted up the bronze snake on a pole in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, so that everyone who believes in him will have eternal life. For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. John 3:3, 14-16

How does one be “born again” you might ask? Here are some scriptures from the book of Romans…a Roman Road so to speak that guides you through your decision.
-
Bits of an old Roman Road in Israel.
  -
For everyone has sinned; we all fall short of God's glorious standard.  Romans 3:23
-          - For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23
-         -  But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. Romans 5:8
-         -  For "Everyone who calls on the name of the LORD will be saved." Romans 10:13 (This message was in the Old Testament. See Joel 2:32)
-          -  If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved. Romans 10:9-10

There you go. You can be saved…by the grace of God. It is a free gift. You cannot earn it, be rewarded by working for it,  or buy it. God freely gives it to us…if we ask.
-          Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. Matthew 7:7

-          Let me ask you this one question: Did you receive the Holy Spirit by obeying the law of Moses? Of course not! You received the Spirit because you believed the message you heard about Christ. Galatians 3:2

-          And we will receive from him whatever we ask because we obey him and do the things that please him. 1 John 3:22
Obedience is the key. Listen and obey. You will have not only eternal life…but an abundant life—spiritually in Christ Jesus our Lord and Savior.

Prayer~ Lord Jesus, Thank You for Your obedience and sacrifice that we might have eternal life with You. Thank You, Heavenly Father…for Your miraculous plan for our salvation…for we are all sinners. Now, by your grace—we can be saved…we are saved from our sin. We are awakened to a glorious life with You…with Christ…with the Holy Spirit. I praise You.
