That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life--whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn't life more than food, and your body more than clothing? Look at the birds. They don't plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren't you far more valuable to him than they are? Can all your worries add a single moment to your life? Matthew 6:25-27
Does this little gator look happy? He should--God takes care of him just like the birds...and us.
Don't worry...Be happy. Does that start a song going in your head? Those song lyrics weren't written from Jesus teaching for His followers in this scripture passage--nor did Jesus directly quote any Old Testament scripture. There are passages concerning worry and declaring God's provision of food for people and animals alike.
- Worry weighs a person down; an encouraging word cheers a person up. Proverbs 12:25- Who provides food for the ravens when their young cry out to God and wander about in hunger? Job 38:41
- He (God) gives food to every living thing. His faithful love endures forever. Psalm 136:25
- For your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom. You rule throughout all generations. The LORD always keeps his promises; he is gracious in all he does. The LORD helps the fallen and lifts those bent beneath their loads. The eyes of all look to you (God) in hope; you give them their food as they need it. When you open your hand, you satisfy the hunger and thirst of every living thing. The LORD is righteous in everything he does; he is filled with kindness. Psalm 145:13-17
God provides--we don't need to worry...just trust God. The person who follows God's plan...lives to please God...is a righteous person. That person shows God's love and helps others--according to God's promises.
- He (a righteous man) does not exploit the poor, but instead is fair to debtors and does not rob them. He gives food to the hungry and provides clothes for the needy. Ezekiel 18:7
Are you on the giving or receiving end of God's promise to take care of others? No burden...no worries.
It is Fat Tuesday--get the "fat" out of your house.
