Yes is Yes. No is No.

Jesus' words from The Sermon on the Mount...
You have also heard that our ancestors were told, 'You must not break your vows; you must carry out the vows you make to the LORD.' But I say, do not make any vows! Do not say, 'By heaven!' because heaven is God's throne. And do not say, 'By the earth!' because the earth is his footstool. And do not say, 'By Jerusalem!' for Jerusalem is the city of the great King. Do not even say, 'By my head!' for you can't turn one hair white or black. Just say a simple, 'Yes, I will,' or 'No, I won't.' Anything beyond this is from the evil one. Matthew 5:33-37

Old Testament scripture that Jesus was referring to was concerning Moses instructions to the leaders of the tribes of Israel.
    - A man who makes a vow to the LORD or makes a pledge under oath must never break it. He must do exactly what he said he would do. Numbers 30:2
It was serious to make a vow--a commitment or covenant. It is still important--and shows integrity and honesty when a person keeps their word.

God keeps His promises...we should, too. Do you keep your promises, letting your "Yes" mean"Yes" and your "No" mean "No"?

Prayer ~ Lord Jesus...Help us to keep not only our promises to You...but any promises we make to others, too. May our "Yes" be consistently, intentionally, and definitely "Yes"...as well as our "No" be decidedly and irrevocably "No". May we be known for our integrity and honesty--as a reflection of You.

Daily Bible Reading: Exodus 10-12

Friday’s Feast at the King’s Table
I've enjoyed good curries and recently had Fried Green Tomatoes with chutney, so I decided to try making some of my own. My first attempt had a bit too much cinnamon and was too sweet--so I tried again. This was enjoyed by the whole family--even those who say they don't like sweet red peppers. I hope you'll enjoy this. Let me know.

Mango Chutney
2 large apples -  peel, core and chop into about 1/2 cubes
1 mango - peel and chop
2 small (mini) sweet red pepper - chop
1/2 cup sweet onion, finely chop
1/2 cup golden raisins1/8 cup grated ginger root1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
1/2 cup coconut sugar
1 Tbsp lemon juice, freshly squeezed
1/2 tsp curry powder
1/4 tsp nutmeg, freshly grated
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp salt, freshly ground

Stir together apples, mango, peppers, onions, raisins, ginger, sugar and vinegar in a stainless steel saucepan. Bring to a boil over high heat and boil for 20 minutes, stirring frequently. Add cinnamon, nutmeg, curry powder and salt. Stir in lemon juice and boil for an additional 5 minutes. Remove from heat. Allow to cool. Serve warm or cold with meats, fried green tomatoes, or with a soft cheese for dessert. Refrigerate leftovers.
