But if we hope for what we do not see, with
perseverance we wait eagerly for it. In the same way the Spirit also helps our
weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself
intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words; and He who searches the
hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes for the
saints according to the will of God. Romans 8:25-27 NASB

The Message describes groaning very
clearing as wordless sighs… Meanwhile,
the moment we get tired in the waiting, God’s Spirit is right alongside helping
us along. If we don’t know how or what to pray, it doesn’t matter. He does our
praying in and for us, making prayer out of our wordless sighs, our aching
groans. Romans 8:26 The Message. How
many times have you been at a loss for words when you are praying? That has
certainly been my experience when praying for myself and for dear friends who
are going through terrible circumstances. That’s when I’ve found myself praying
in the Spirit—He gives me the words to say. Turning my aching groans into very
comforting words. The Spirit intercedes for us. Read Romans 8:34… Who then will condemn us? No
one—for Christ Jesus died for us and was raised to life for us, and He is
sitting in the place of honor at God's right hand, pleading (interceding) for
us. NLT. We are uniquely blessed! We have Jesus Christ AND the Holy Spirit
both interceding for us. Even in times—or especially—of trial and distress we
can be assured that our prayers are being taken to the Father in a mighty way. Do
you trust the Lord…the Holy Spirit…with your prayers even when you don’t know
what to say?
Prayer
~ Holy Spirit—know my heart and hear the groaning of soul. I trust you to speak
to the Father for me…and for my family and friends. May all that I think, say
and do be acceptable to You, God—for I live to please You.
