I love the idea…it is a fact that I have accepted…that God has always existed. I remember forty some years ago struggling with…where did God come from? He has ALWAYS been. He is the I AM—in present tense. In the beginning the Word—that is Jesus—already existed. He created everything—including light. That was physical light.
Then God said, "Let there be light," and there was light. And
God saw that the light was good. Then He separated the light from the darkness.
Genesis 1:3-4.
Jesus provides spiritual light…as He said…
"I am the light of the world. If you follow me, you won't have to walk in
darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life." John
8:12
Like David, I claim God to be my light—to give
me spiritual insight.
You light a lamp for me. The LORD, my God,
lights up my darkness. ... God's way is perfect. All the LORD's promises prove
true. He is a shield for all who look to Him for protection. Psalm 18:28,
30.
Jesus sees His light in us as He described
when He was addressing a crowd of people on a hillside above the Sea of
Galilee, in what is called today The Sermon on the Mount, Jesus also said…
You are the light of the world—like a city
on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. Matthew 5:14.
Think of how there is always a shadow cast
by any person or object in sunlight.
So don't be misled, my dear brothers and
sisters. Whatever is good and perfect comes down to us from God our Father, who
created all the lights in the heavens. He never changes or casts a shifting
shadow. James 1:16-17.
Without light there is no shadow. What kind
of shadow do you cast? Prayer ~ Lord Jesus, You are the light of the world. You are the light of my world…of my life. May Your light shine in and through me, as You have promised.
