O Sovereign LORD! You made the heavens and
earth by your strong hand and powerful arm. Nothing is too hard for you! You
show unfailing love to thousands, but you also bring the consequences of one
generation's sin upon the next. You are the great and powerful God, the LORD of
Heaven's Armies. You have all wisdom and do great and mighty miracles. You see
the conduct of all people, and you give them what they deserve. Jeremiah
32:17-19
This was Jeremiah’s prayer to the Lord when
Jerusalem was under siege from the Babylon army and Jeremiah was imprisoned in
the royal palace courtyard. He recognized that God has all wisdom. He is the
source and sustainer of wisdom.
Power, wisdom, love. Three qualities of God
that I see as intertwined and interdependent. Love without power and wisdom is
just a limp handshake. Power without love and wisdom is oppressive and unjust.
Wisdom without love and power is just worldly wise words flapping in the breeze.
The three qualities together give God the ability to miraculously heal physically
and spiritually with mercy and grace. Those who don’t respond to God’s
invitation to His love and mercy suffer the resulting penalties…and miss out on
the best part of God’s love—eternal life with Him. It is the best because it
starts right away when someone claims Jesus as their Savior—believing in Him as
God’s Son—and ends…never. Eternal life is just that—the never ending enveloping
love of God. It is a wonderful feeling to know that I’ve been adopted into God’s
family—forever. He will never leave me or forsake me…as He promised in Hebrews
13:5. Have you been adopted into God’s
family?
Prayer
~ Merciful Father, Holy God—I exalt You—for with Your wisdom, power and love
You are above all things—emotions, worldly possessions and lofty goals. You are
worthy of all praise.
Happy Birthday Blessing, Kathy K.
May God continue to bless you as you seek and serve Him!
