Where is your mind? Your thoughts? Is the
Holy Spirit guiding your mind and thoughts? One of my favorite verses is found
in Philippians. And now, dear brothers
and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable,
and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent
and worthy of praise. Philippians 4:8 NLT. Fix your mind—keep focused on good
stuff. Allow the Holy Spirit to control your thoughts, words, and ultimately
your actions, too. The steadfast of mind
You will keep in perfect peace, because he trusts in You. Isaiah 26:3.
Stubborn humans that we are…we want to think and do what we want to think and
do. No one controlling us! But when we give our lives to Jesus, we give up that
selfish attitude…or at least begin to do that. It is an ongoing struggle for
most new Christians. Paul gives us good advice in his letter to the church at
Philippi—think on the good stuff. That is what is pleasing to the Holy Spirit.
Please the Holy Spirit—please God. Live couldn’t be sweeter. Not even
chocolates or peppermints are sweeter than doing the will of God…pleasing Him.
Think about that.
Prayer
~ Holy Spirit, may our thoughts, words and actions be pleasing to You. Give us
the grace to humble ourselves and do whatever it takes to focus our thoughts on
the good things—things that are true, honorable, right, pure, lovely, admirable,
excellent and praiseworthy. We want to honor You.
