Can You Forgive?

Sketch of the church I grew up attending.
Warden Community Church.
Warden, Washington

Have you had a bad experience at church? Maybe someone insulted you or made you feel unworthy?

Forgiveness is the key. A special key—like the dual keys in Mission Impossible- Deadly Reckoning Part One—that will unlock the mystery of the Entity.

The Forgiveness Key. One half from your heart—one half from Jesus. Together that key takes away bitterness/resentment. It gives new life, renewed spiritual vitality, and allows love to flow in and through you. The River of Life, of love is Jesus.

Then the angel showed me a river with the water of life, clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb. It flowed down the center of the main street. On each side of the river grew a tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, with a fresh crop each month. The leaves were used for medicine to heal the nations. Revelation 22:1-2

He gave us love, forgiveness, and life—eternal life—as He took upon Himself the sin of the whole world throughout all time on the cross. Can you imagine the weight of all that sin? Over fifty-five years ago when I asked Jesus to forgive me for my sin, I felt such an enormous weight literally lift off my shoulders. At that point I’ve visualized that it was vaporized—never to return to me. It went through time to Jesus on the cross. What a tremendous joy I feel in my heart when I recall that. Jesus is so good—so loving. I am unworthy—but He stretches out His loving arms and wraps them around me anyway. That is agape love and I humbly accept it. No broken relationship with anyone, no insults or rejections from others, no bitterness, critical spirit, or unforgiveness from others will keep me from the love of God—the very love of Jesus. That is my choice.

Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior. Ephesians 4:31

Forgiveness is a big issue—an important factor in dealing with others, especially those in the church.

If you forgive those who sin against you, your heavenly Father will forgive you. But if you refuse to forgive others, your Father will not forgive your sins. Matthew 6:14-15

Look after each other so that none of you fails to receive the grace of God. Watch out that no poisonous root of bitterness grows up to trouble you, corrupting many. Hebrews 12:15

If you’ve been ignored, insulted, rejected, abused, bullied or banished by someone at a church you’ve attended, don’t give up on God.  It wasn’t God who rejected you…forgive and move on. The choice is yours.

Meditate. Consider if bitterness is ruining your relationship with God and with others.

Prayer – Lord God, open my eyes to how others perceive You in me. Help me to be open to forgiving others—because You have forgiven me of so much.

Verse of Salvation ~ Help us, O God of our salvation! Help us for the glory of your name. Save us and forgive our sins for the honor of your name. Psalm 79:9

My gratitude for today: Forgiveness—from God and for others. Love flowing through me to others. Peace that I feel because of Jesus’ love.
