Birthday Blessings 1943-2025 – 82 and Counting!

How many 82 year-olds do you know? Probably quite a few since people are just living longer these days! My hubby, Jerry, has reached that point and like many his age he doesn’t look that old. He is still going strong. Not running in the Honolulu Marathon this year…although he did in 1982. He actually finished, too! It was a very good year. Now he walks at least a couple days a week…and gets out of the house every day! Good thing we pick up our mail at the Post Office so it gives him an excuse to drive over to Richland city proper. Then there are the two days a week he does Tai Chi, the trips to the car wash…breakfast out with the church guys twice a month and with my brother once a week. Fishing--whenever he can. Yes. We live to eat and eat to live. He is still active. He even road his bike a couple of time this past year. I think he’s taking a nap as I write this! Ha! Naps are important for us older folks.

Jerry’s favorite pastime is YouTube watching MonkeyWerx twice a week, and archeological shows about the pyramids that he visited in Egypt when he was there on an Air Force temporary assignment. Travel shows. Prepper and RV programs. Athey Creek at least once a month for the Prophecy Update. Just flipping through the YouTube offerings must certainly be entertaining since he often can spend an hour doing that or watching shorts. So much information out there. Who would have thought we’d ever have such an information explosion? Far greater than any encyclopedia could ever contain!

Bless the food, family, friends. That is his prayer several times a day. What is the focus of your daily prayers? The early believers were devoted to prayer…and to the Lord’s supper.

All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching, and to fellowship, and to sharing in meals (including the Lord's Supper), and to prayer. A deep sense of awe came over them all, and the apostles performed many miraculous signs and wonders. Acts 2:42-43

When was the last time you took communion—participated in the Lord’s Supper? I just finished a book that I thought would be just interesting…just another diet book, but it turned out to be a real encouraging book on following God’s plan for our lives. The Jesus Diet by Terry Toler. He has ten points or principles that he uses numerous scriptures to illustrate his theme. The two most important elements are giving thanks for our food and daily recognizing the importance of Jesus’ sacrifice by taking the Lord’s supper. Other principles include honoring God, eating any foods—but not with a gluttonous attitude, and feeding or helping those in need—the hungry.

The choice, as always, is up to each of us. How will you honor God today—with your heart, soul, mind, and body? Will you serve Him by caring for others?

So when they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, "Simon, son of John, do you love Me more than these [others do--with total commitment and devotion]?" He said to Him, "Yes, Lord; You know that I love You [with a deep, personal affection, as for a close friend]." Jesus said to him, "Feed My lambs." John 21:15 AMP

Meditate. Consider your own birthday blessings.

Prayer – Lord God, thank you for long life and Your love.

Verse of Salvation ~ Even though the fig trees have no blossoms, and there are no grapes on the vines; even though the olive crop fails, and the fields lie empty and barren; even though the flocks die in the fields, and the cattle barns are empty, yet I will rejoice in the LORD! I will be joyful in the God of my salvation! The Sovereign LORD is my strength! He makes me as surefooted as a deer, able to tread upon the heights. Habakkuk 3:17-19

My gratitude for today: Long life. Joy to share. Choices.

Happy Birthday, Jerry!

Blessings and Much Love Always
